This shirt is one of the things in Frankfurt that I saved to wear for something special. But on some days, when you still feel a little crappy, you just need something to cheer you up, and so I decided that it was time to let this shirt see the world. I'm just in love with the material and how the material enables the cut to stand out. I also tried to find some nailpolish in my collection that is somehow similar to the bright orange in the tee, just for matchy-matchy purposes.

I never thought that I might feel attracted by raw industrial materials and ways of dressing, but last weekend I bought myself an Levis 501 at the flea market (it was a 1euro now-or-never-descision, the strongest argument was, that what millions of people have considered to be an amazing jeans can't be so wrong that I'll ever regrett spending this tiny euro..) I always considered myself as a person born for the french upper class pencil-skirt and dress style, but times change and I'm really happy that my wardrobe allows me to do both. Plus, I do love the fact that some well-chosen jewelry, a nice pop of colour and glimmery, shimmery, transparent material can upgrade a classic Levis so fast...

I never thought that I could be the owner of a real McQueen piece, mainly because the prices are really out of budget for me, but sometimes, with the help of your mother, a little fashion-passioned girl can have some luck. My mother discovered this wool top on a dirty rack at a flea market and the seller, who obviously had no clue what he was selling there (he worked for these household clearances) wanted 5 Euros for it. My eyes nearly dropped out when I re-found the cut in my book about McQueen. It's from the Fall 2004 mainline as you can see below:

Went to the flea market with my mum today and bought some nice coat, still with the price tag on it saying "195,- German Mark", so it's an authentic never worn piece! And very Prada somehow.
The outfit I wore was really too cold for today, but I can't stand combining pants at the moment, it bores me because my pants always tend to have the same silouette and statement. With skirts and dresses, you can do a lot more layering and shapes... But I still do love this Stella McCartney knock-off print and I wouldn't mind Zara to do a Stella knock-off with her recent collections, too!

Black has been the symbol of cleanness and easyness for me, as you can never go wrong with it. Today we discussed an interesting topic in my classes that came back to mind like a boomerang everytime I was sitting somewhere and not expecting to think about it. In Kazuo Ishiguro's novel "Never let me go" they collect the artwork of the clones to proove that clones do have souls. My teacher just casually mentioned that we should think about our opinion on wheter art can reveal your soul.

This topic really kept me thinking, because yes, true art, that comes directly from your heart and soul, true art, that pushes the boundaries and does not stuck to notions of what others want it to be, yes, such a true art can reveal your innermost feelings, desires and soul, because it connects with subconscious emotions that true art evokes. One should think about how rare it is these days.....

Not having much time for try and error in the morning on weekdays, I do enjoy the possibilities of playing around with shapes and material at the weekends. I usually tend not to wear this conceptual style that brands like weekday, acne, demeulemeester etc.create.But wearing this 2 Euro-ebay wonder named "real Acne jeans in a size that nobody fits and nobody will buy" I decided to go conceptual today. The ruffles under the jeans shirt are a skirt actually.

Beeing fascinated by fashion and still living together with your family always causes some row. This is especially related to the fact that my mother is used to wash most of my clothes - an almost unbearable bunch caused by my love for layering to be honest - so that she will complain about the amount of washing. Based on this, I decided to disburden her, challenging myself to recombine things and expressing my love for special pieces by wearing them down the whole week. These pants literally stuck to my body since I've bought them.

Today I've had my oral exam in english, so I knew that I shouldn't experiment with prints that much, in order to prevent my teachers from print confusion. And I have to confess: The pants look awesome with neutral stuff as well.

Obsessions can have a wide variety: This week I've been confessing that I'm obsessed with prints, coffeetable books, jewelry and well made ad campaigns. Well, at the moment I'm also obsessed with everything vintage and the silouhette of the Dior-era (might be caused by the fact that I study those coffeetable books...). It is just so elegant and chic that it lightens your mood and makes you feel special and womanly instead of the mood you get from running around in jeans and sweater all day. It might be caused by the fact that the skirt is so tight that you have to make everything slower and more carefully and therefore - more gracefully. It is a skirt to promenade through the streets before you sit down in an old and chic café to order some coffee with decadent cream- yes, somehow I always imagine myself in decadence wearing such pretty things, although the reality is somehow different.

How much I disliked these Marant jeans at the beginning. I just thought that they are some kind of new it-piece for the victims, something unnecessarily hyped - and now I'm a victim myself. I adore playing around a little at the moment, mixing patterns and prints and those Zara jeans just directly caught my attention during this week's shopping trip to Frankfurt and so I decided to buy them, evenhough they were not on sale.

Time for Cinema - The Help

Based on the novel by Kathryn Stockett, "The Help" tells the story of Skeeta, a young withe with the desire to become a journalist and Abileen, a housemaid, during the civil rights movement. After some incidents Skeeta, an open-minded young woman that seems not to fit into the proletarian society, decides to publish a book about the life and experiences of the black housemaids who work in her surroundings.

I really enjoyed watching this movie yesterday, the characters are well-drawn and vivit, the plot is nice and you can't foresee everything the minute the movie begins. It is a serious topic, but they managed to keep the story positive and heart-warming for most of the time, so you don't become depressive by watching a movie with a serious background. I really do recommend you to watch it soon!

My mind is still lamenting why I've been so incredibly stupid to leave this amazingly printed skirt in the Zara store in Frankfurt yesterday. The print is just beyond amazing, the pricing is okay and well, it reminds me a lot of good old fashion times when Alexander McQueen was still alive.

Went shopping in Frankfurt today, I'm completely exhausted but happy now.Already started with some spring shopping in the winter sales and got my hands on some awesome new collection pieces like this amazing suit that I spotted ages ago at carolinesmode!

I also had my first visit at Vapiano and although I was quite disappointed at the beginning, because I didn't recieve what I ordered, I had to admit, that it tastes just as good as all my obsessed friends were telling me. I had hand-made spelt spaghetti with bolognese sauce, fresh pasta tastes a gazillion times better than any usual pasta you can buy at a store!

H&M dress under a vintage blouse under a primark skirt might sound a bit chaotic, but somehow it matches well, perhaps because the colours are neutral and matched. Although I'm so ready for these new bright spring colours, I'm still resting on the neutrals until some good quality copies of that Jil Sander collection pop up at Zara &co. It seems to me like I've bought those italian leather shoes ages ago, one day before my achilles collapsed in the summer to be exact, and until those images the lay unworn in my closet. I still haven't worn them outside the house ( my insole shoes had to rock that outfit), but I imagine how pretty life could be if I could wear them in real life again.

This was amazing tournament because they combined the highest level couples (S-Latin) with the second highest (A-Latin) couples. Truly an experience I won't forget, because we made the second place at A-Latin and were placed in front of some S-Latin dancers.

Snow flurry

Well, as you might have recognized, I saved my breath talking about how fantasic the old year had been and so on. It was my hardest year of school ever, I made my driving liscense, I got lunettes (the word is much much more prettier than "glasses"), and was told to get brackets (plain stupid word in every language), my achilles tendon was inflamed and in danger to get torn, I had to say goodbye to heels because of that, my computer broke, my dance shoes broke as well. From that point of view it sounds like the year was terrible. I felt more than once that it really was.

I got back amazingly good marks for my hard work at school. It was the first year to be in the regional championship final.I've found the perfect foundation. I read inspiring magazines and books. I was actually invited to partys. I got a new dance dress. I learned to paint with charcoal. I finally wrote fashion articles in the school newspaper. I started pilates. I've met inspiring friends.

At the end of the day I think I can say that I started to grow. There are still enough experiences and mistakes to make, and more than one bad day to overcome, but if my life goes on like this with some extras (the usual, finding an inspiring job after my grades and a human beeing to share my life with), I think I can be satisfied for a moment.

After my constant moaning of never beeing invited to any party, I've had a pretty busy November, visiting 4 parties. Well, it seems like something is changing in my more than boring teenager life.
The outfit was directed by the special demands of changing from school to party without going home. So you take the dress, the pullover and flat shoes for school and add the Lanvin for H&M necklace and high heels for the party.

The Tourist

Every year, at the fist day of the holidays, my best friend and I have some kind of a ritual: Welcome the vacations by going into a cinema! Black Swan isn't in German cinemas yet, so we went for The Tourist with Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp.

The plot is easily summarized:For her police-searched love an extremely pretty woman plays hide-and-seek with the police by pretending that a stranger she met on a train is her husband.
Doesn't seems like the most original story, does it? Why watch it anyway?
1. Compared to Jolie's last action movie Salt, there is barely no action, but that's what makes the film so elegant
2.Johnny Depp plays clumsy but clever heroes so well.
3. The entire film was captured in Venice so it's a hommage to this beautiful city as well.
4.Angelina Jolie's costumes are as beautiful and elegant as the city.
5.To have a closer look at those amazing brown-black smokey eyes on the big screen

I recently bought myself a package of fashion magazines at the international corner of the train station, consisting of the Vogue January 2011, Vogue Italia November 2010 (although I can't read it), a new magazine named Fräulein and the TUSH. So I have a lot to review in the next days, but don't be afraid, Ill mix it with my usual posts.

This year's last issue comes with two covers of Kirsi Pyrhonen or a limited Bryanboy edition, but I went for her, because, well, models are prettier. The magazine costs 6,50 Euros, which might sound much, but it's less advertising and more photo spreads than in Vogue so I think it's justified. The only thing that I'm a little disappinted about is the fact that there is an editioral with Bryanboy but none with the beautiful Kirsi.

First shot is from "Renature", featuring Vanessa Hegelmeier, a former contestant of Germany's next Topmodel, that quit early enough to walk now for the likes of D&G or Alberta Ferretti.
Second is Masha Novoselova in "Overdose",dressed in all kind of toys it's fun to look at.

What is most impressive about TUSH are the beauty editorials with their impressive love for experiments and colours. I just adore that kind of images. I could stare the whole day at them without getting tired.

You might haven't recognized it in the pictures above, but the issue is dedicated to retro, so there are a lot of spreads dealing with the topics of "yesterday meets today".

Iekeline Stange often looks like a crazy bird, but somehow they managed to make her look elegant in "Modern Royality".
The last shot captures Karolin Wolter in a mix between fashion and beauty editorial.

I deeply regret that I haven't bought an issue earlier, so I think that I'll buy the next issue,too, when it's available.

Watched the movie "Once" today, as a part of the schools "english movies week". It's about a street musician who writes songs to get back the love of his life. He only gets attention by an rumanian immigrant worker who supports him to record his songs. The movie is pretty romantic but it also appears to be quite natural because of the camera work. You really need to check out the soundtrack!

This outfit is actually a few weeks old, I needed some time to experiment which photo combinations make those weird focus look like a thoughtful unity. I also shooted on some other places with this outfit, going to upload them sooner or later!

I recently brought my absolut object of luxury home with me: A Vogue Paris. Getting your hands on international magazines in a small town is like the famous search for the needle in the haystack. Plus that if you find one, it's getting ultra-expensive for a student. A regular Vogue costs about 6euros, a French Vogue 12euros. So after I've found the anniversary issue, I had to swallow, but just as the also famous quote says " Instead of food, I bought myself a Vogue, I felt it fed me more", I bought it. And I was amazingly proud to walk around with this Vogue in my hands, not putting it in a bag (hey!then the others don't see the amazing cover anymore!). Having a hard time to translate the longer articles from French to German, although I've still got French lessons in school, wasn't even destroying a tiny bit of my instant happiness.

The editorials are bloddy awsome, these are my favs:
The editorial "Visions", featuring Eniko Mihalik, refers to a shot by David Bailey from 1966, and gets re-interpreted by Mario Sorrenti. It is considered to be a creative image of what cosmetic gigants see as the future. I personally feel more that it makes me feel shocked about what the beauty industry is going to invent in the future, but the image itself is amazing.

This issues favourite editrorial is "Bal masqué", originally by Horst P. Horst (1934) and now re-shooted by Mert&Marcus with the likes of Lara Stone, Mariacarla Boscono, Freja Beha Erichsen and Chrystal Renn. There are also some yummy male-models, but after I saw the skeletton corset that Mariacarla wears in this picture, I forgot anything else.

Lara Stone appears quite often in the magazine, this time for "Les péchés" by David Bailey (1971). The title means the seven death sins and the strongest picture is "the Anger" with the blood on her ankles and the amazing lightning of Steven Klein. But I'm still not sure about the lipstick.

Although there is no deeper history beyond this stunning picture of Anja Rubik, it's still a stunning picture, taking you in the mood of a masked ball as Vogue's anniversary party.

Last but not least there are this wonderful series of images "La petite". Realised by Carine Roitfield herself and captured by Hedi Slimane, Violette de la Fressange shows how to be a madame in a black dress.

Changes make the world

Since there are a lot of discussions about the quality of blogging (I can highly recommend this weeks article at lesmads), I face myself with the necessarity of changes. I know that, by still beeing a student, I don't have many insight into the real world of fashion and its specific art,so I can only effect an emotional reaction to fashion. I felt that I bored myself with my few lines underneath every picture, so perhaps I'll try to dip deeper into the material from now on. I also made a list of about 30 topics that I'd like to cover the next few weeks.

Still there is everything open to change and so I'd like you to ask a few things:

1.) I know myself as a scardy cat, so I suppose that it's necessary to change my banner. I'm really afraid that the photographer will come up some day with a lawsuit against me, eventhough I wrote in my profile that this photo isn't mine.
2.)I'm thinking of going back to German writing, simply because it's easier, but this might be unfair to the international readers, so I might keep on writing English.
3.) My computer is pretty fast at loading images, but what about you? Shall there be less photos per page so you can load everything quicker? Or even more pics? And what about detail shots?
4.) Would you like to know something about me I haven't been writing about yet?
5.) Should I write more about my life as a dancer simply because I can't write about any other daily routine such as the usual "I went to X with XY"? Would you like to know anything about where dancers get their dresses or how they prepare backstage? How they tan or use make-up?

I want to get Carried away

During my autumn vacations I got obsessed with Sex and the City. I know that the series is a very old hat, but I've been simply too young to watch it when the series were published in the 90ies. And I need to admit that i thought it was amazing to watch. The episodes were like contemporary witnesses of an era that I spend my time with learning the abc and dressing my dolls. Nowadays the famous mixture of Carrie Bradshaw's wardrobe, consisting of designer shoes, thight gowns, vintage fur, and a certain love for tops that are showing the whole belly, appear a little like a high paid luxury prostitute to me. Eventhough I wanted to refuse those looks for beeing absolutely inappropriate, the more episodes I watched ( and I watched the entire seasons from 1-5), the more I seemed to absorb this kind of style into my head. So it's no suprise that I ended up with a short short skirt, lace, forest-green nails, open,wild hair and a big ring on my finger (I usualy dislike rings because they are annoying me during writing).

I always have the impression, than when I'm fallen for a trend, I'd like to wear it everyday. Since I got my hands on some pretty maxi dresses and skirts I really enjoy wearing these. I seem to have a inferior and instinctual enjoyment in waving around things and feeling the texture of clothing in movement. Additionally I'm fascinated by everything sheer, so I think I'll buy a lot of sheer things the next time. Furthermore I seem to have fallen for thick knitted cardigans and simple withe blouses. The shoes are orthopedic like the others, I always try to talk myself into the believe that these are one of those gorgeous boots, a model would wear "off-duty" during fashion week. Imagination is the key to happiness in that case.

Another week is over without any uploading and that might be the reason why I've lost two of my dear readers this week. Mhh, nobody might recognize this on the big blogs, but I do. Nevermind, I've had a good week, and a hurray for you, I also used my camera to documentate my outfits. So here is the first one, modeling my new shoes, especially made for insoles ( I've never spend so much money on shoes, and now it's on a pair of orthopedic shoes. I could imagine so many other shoes to buy from that money *sniff*).
I've bought this COS sweater on a flea market a couple of weeks ago but I never knew how to wear something that is so
a) conceptual
b)unpractical ( you almost clean the desk after eating with these wings)
c)unbalanced in terms of warmth/cold. (the material is quite warm but without sleeves I wouldn't say it's warm).
Despite these facts I'm in love with the geometry, the material and the imagination of some bat wings. To sport the flat shoes ( it's a whole new thing to concept a look without heels) I took these red tights from Primark and very red lipstick.

What to say more? Pure craziness as a result of my fashion absence. I wore this to have some fun on a blurry Saturday. At night we went out to dance a Latin show and I was actually able to wear some flat dance shoes again. It was wondeful, just as a fish that was send back to the ocean he came from.

Counting the days down until it's finally vacation time. This week was extremely exhausting, never came back home before 8p.m. It's pretty unfair that I need to stay at home while the whole fashion crowd travels around and visits the spring 2011 fashion shows. But I hope that one day, when I graduate, my way will go directly into the heart of fashion journalism. I should consider the idea that I need a plan b, but face to face with this dream job it's hard to imagine anything else.

I've bought this romper about a year ago at H&M trend, just thought it might be nice to wear it at practise. Now it developed to one of my fav' comfortable weekend outfits. I'm usually not into jewellry, but the romper itself is just so colourless.

There is a reason why you don't see any outfits at the moment. The simple reason that is called "inspiration". It's not like I haven't any, but it's all based on heels that I'm not allowed to wear. The only shoes my feet fit into at the moment are my mother's pink houseshoes. And that's what I wear in public at the moment, so I really look ridiculous with the shoes. But I don't mind. I just want everything to heal properly.

Apart from that I'm wearing a sheer vintage skirt, H&M bustier and Mango cardigan.

Based on the fact that I am wearing heels in these photos, you can clearly guess that these are old photos.I shot them sometime before my achilles bared me to wear heels for half a year or even more. I think it was to present my absolutely stunning new jacket from H&M, looking like the Burberry one I've been craving for.

I've been scribbling these thoughts on post it's last night, after a doctor told me that my achilles tendon is inflamed.

I feel exhausted.
My body is exhausted.
My soul is exhausted.
I don't know how much is in me to fight.
The only thing I know that there is fear.
Tons of fear.
Overwhelming.

I fear to not be able to dance anymore.
Not be able to deliver the expectations.
Or never find anyone who will hold me in his arms,
tightly, and say "things are getting better some day".

I struggle,
I keep on going,
but I don't know for what anymore.
What will be there at the end of the day?
A girl that cries herself to sleep, alone
As I do now?

What do I believe in, when I loose
my passion?
my joy?
my life?
my reason to wake up every single day?

Is there hope in me?
For a bright future?
The childish hope that everything will be better tomorrow?
It's all gone by now.

There's nothing like this.
No hope.
No trust.
Just this fear.
And tears that are streaming to nowhere.

I know that I destroy my mind with thoughts like these.
I want to be happy.
But I can't be happy right now.

The thought of never dancing again like I did until know,
is a constant noise in my head.
I oppress it.
Every single minute.
when I'm watched by others.
I stay strong.
But when I'm alone,
It's overwhelming me.

It hits me like a punch.
I try to stay calm.
But the only thing I'm able to
is shivering.

I'm one of those "keep on doing" persons
but these thoughts are paralysing me.

I never knew that dancing was that important to me,
until I had to consider the fact that it might be over.

Black Swan

At the beginning of the day this outfit was destinated to look a bit like Chanel with the wool and the pearls and so on, but after fighting with the lightning of the dawn, it tended to have a more dramatic outcome. It seems like I've been more than inspired by this "Black Swan" trailer I've been watching over and over again since its release.
Looking at these one week old pictures now, it feels like I'm looking at happier days. Perhaps I'm going to tell you later what I meant with that sentence.

Here's a summary of the movie
Nina (Portman) is a ballerina in a New York City ballet company whose life, like all those in her profession, is completely consumed with dance. She lives with her obsessive former ballerina mother Erica (Hershey) who exerts a suffocating control over her. When artistic director Thomas Leroy (Cassel) decides to replace prima ballerina Beth MacIntyre (Ryder) for the opening production of their new season, Swan Lake, Nina is his first choice. But Nina has competition: a new dancer, Lily (Kunis), who impresses Leroy as well. Swan Lake requires a dancer who can play both the White Swan with innocence and grace, and the Black Swan, who represents guile and sensuality.
